WHO: Fairhaven Middle School
WHAT: The “Social Action Club” and students involved in garden education projects of Fairhaven Middle School will create a food bank garden on CLSR grounds. Students will do research and surveys to determine the best ways to grow food, the crops that are most desired within our community, and then plant and tend those crops.
WHY: This garden space will serve a number of functions. 1) Students will engage in real-world opportunities to positively contribute to their community by raising food for hunger relief agencies. 2) Students will have access to another outdoor garden education space in which to learn about sustainable food production. 3) Students will have an opportunity to understand how multiple organizations can work together to create positive change and “social action.”
